Run! Run! That was the only thought
going through her mind. She had to get away from him; had to hide. If he found her she’d be dead. She could hear his pounding
footsteps behind her, slowly coming closer. She was tiring, couldn’t breathe,
and to breathe…must rest. No! Need
to get away. Her urge to survive was stronger then her desire to give up. She needed to live; her whole life was ahead of her.
She could sense the man was getting closer as she turned down an alley in hopes of finding a place to hide. She should hide. Where is there to hide? The dumpster! He won’t find her. He can’t find her.
She tries to control her breathing. Tries
to slow it down. She is gasping for breath, he will hear her. He will find her. She hears his approaching footsteps, slow
and diligent, yet, careful. He is approaching her hiding place and she has the
urge to scream out. She can’t, she will give herself away. Has to stay silent, must stay silent. He is so close to her
now that she can hear his labored breathing from running. What will she do if
he spots her? She must get away, must survive. Someone help her! He is practically on top of her. He stops breathing to listen. She stops too. All is silent. Out of the shadows she sees him smile. He turns to her hiding
place. He looks right at her but he cannot see her. It is all in darkness. She is so scared that she is now quivering. That grin. She will remember it always
if she lives. She is staring at him. All
of a sudden he starts to whisper to her, her name.
“I’m going to find you. There is no
use hiding. If you get away I will find you again. Come to me Sadie. Come out and play.”
He started laughing. The sound is
so horrible to her ears, so evil.
“Sadie………Sadie…”
